The Big Conversation 2022

We started the Big Conversation in 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic showed what we can achieve when communities work together. The Big Conversation was about working with people from start to finish. Giving them the opportunity to get involved in decisions that affect their lives.

We recruited over 100 volunteers (conversationalists). Our Conversationalists were from a range of organisations. These included the Council, NHS, and voluntary sector.

The Conversationalists went out and about to every postcode in the district. They spoke to over 1300 residents including children and young people. They had face to face conversations with people living and working in the Wakefield area.

They asked people what they liked about their area. And what they would like to see in the future to improve things for the next generation. Their thoughts became a shared vision of what the future should look like.

The Big Conversation ‘The Story so Far’ report is now available for you to read.
