Community asset transfer

Community asset transfer is about giving local people and groups control in the future of their area.

If local groups own or manage community buildings, it can give them a place to support their growth.

It can also support people to improve their skills and build a stronger community spirit. It allows people from different backgrounds to work towards a shared goal.

We are committed to working with groups and local people.

We want to ensure that asset transfer is successful and sustainable in the long-term.

If a council property is no longer in use, we may invite interests from local groups who wish to use it. This is done under the Community Transfer Policy.

Interested parties should contact the council for advice about the process.
