Volunteering

Volunteer Week 2018

This year during volunteer week we will be hosting four volunteer fairs across the district. These are a fantastic opportunity to come and learn about the whole range of volunteering opportunities available, and to register your interest in volunteering with us.

The events are taking place on:

  • Friday 1 June at the Elizabethan Gallery in Wakefield City Centre – near Trinity Walk Shopping Centre
  • Monday 4 June at Hemsworth Springs Life Centre
  • Tuesday 5 June at Castleford Trinity Church.
  • Wednesday 6 June at Pontefract Library.

All events take place between 11am and 2pm. There is no need to book, you can just turn up on the day.

Do you know a local hero?

The Wakefield Community Foundation is hosting an awards ceremony for local volunteers, and they need your nominations. Visit their website for more details, and to nominate.

Volunteering with other organisations

We also work closely with partner organisations. Nova Wakefield District is the support organisation for the Third Sector, with volunteering opportunities.

Or simply ask in your local community, there will be a community centre, brownie group, older people's club, conservation group or something which catches your interest and could make you and others feel better.
