Housing advice team

The Housing Advice Team offer advice and advocacy on housing and housing related problems

Our areas of work include dealing with:

  • Tenancy problems
  • Disrepair
  • Harassment and unlawful eviction
  • Mortgage and rent arrears
  • Entitlement to benefits.

We offer representation in the County Court for mortgage and rent arrears and can represent clients at tribunal with Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support appeals.

We also participate twice monthly in a Duty Advocacy Scheme for mortgage arrears at the Wakefield Civil Justice Centre.

When you can see us

We are only able to interview clients by appointment in Castleford. However, if they are in a defined urgent situation, such as having a Warrant of Possession due to be enforced within 48 hours, or being harassed or threatened by a landlord we will arrange to see them as soon as it is practical to do so.
