Information for candidates
This page provides information for potential candidates for the District Elections on Thursday 3 May 2018.
For anyone wanting to be a candidate, please note the following key dates:
Pre-nomination briefings for candidates and agents- Monday 19 March 5.30pm and Tuesday 20 March 2.30pm to 5.30pm.
Pre-nomination informal checking- Wednesday 21 March - Friday 22 March
Nominations for candidates - Monday 26 March until 4pm Friday 6 April
You are advised to book an appointment if you would like to submit nomination papers. You do not need to do so, but making an appointment will ensure that you can be seen when you arrive and will reduce any waiting time. Contact the Electoral Services Office to make an appointment. You should allow 20 minutes per nomination paper.
Post nomination briefings for candidates will be held on Monday, 9 April at 5.30pm and on Tuesday, 10 April at 2.30pm and 5.30pm. All briefings will be held in County Hall, Wakefield, WF1 2QW.
If you are a candidate you will receive further information about the briefing sessions following the close of nomination on Friday, 6 April. All candidates are encouraged to attend. Briefing packs will be available here after the close of nominations.
