Before you start
If you find a stray dog, you can contact us and our dog wardens will collect the dog (if it is from a known location) and where possible, the dog will be returned to its owner.
You will need to tell us:

- Your contact details (name, address, telephone, email)
- A description of the dog, for example, its type, colour, size, age
- The time and date when you found the dog
- Where you found the dog
- Where the dog should be collected from
Our dog wardens work Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm
Details of the stray dog will be passed to the dog wardens, who will attend as soon as possible.
Outside these hours (including weekends) you can:
Take the dog to the kennels
You can take a stray dog to Mount Pleasant Kennels, Hampole, Doncaster, DN6 7EX 07564 018638. Please call to arrange to take the dog. You can only take dogs to Mount Pleasant Kennels Mon-Fri 6pm-9pm. Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays 8am to 9pm.
If you would like to keep the dog
You can keep the dog until the owner identifies themselves (the appropriate form will need to be completed by a dog warden, when available) If the owner comes forward within 28 days, the dog will have to be returned. If no owner comes forward within 28 days, the dog becomes the finder’s property.
Have the dog collected
If the dog is found over the weekend, you can keep the dog until a dog warden can collect it on the Monday.
