Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH)
Licencing laws in England and Wales states that anyone who authorises the retail sale of alcohol must hold a personal licence.
Those who wish to obtain a personal licence need to apply to their local authority i.e. Wakefield Council. Applicants for a personal licence must first obtain a recognised / approved qualification such as Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders
This qualification is aimed at individuals working in or preparing to work in, any industry that involves the retail sale of alcohol.
Anyone wishing to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol by retail on licenced premises must hold a personal licence.

- Protection children
- Temporary event notices
- The application process
A Multiple-Choice Question Examination assesses this qualification. Successful learners will have to demonstrate knowledge and understanding across the qualification syllabus in order to pass. Once passed, the qualification can be used to apply for your personal licence
