How do I buy a grave?
Normally your funeral director will help to make the necessary arrangements for buying a grave. Some people may want to make their own arrangements at the time of the funeral or in advance (known as a pre-purchase to undertake funeral planning).
How long can I buy a grave for?
Exclusive Rights of Burial are sold for a period of 100 years, these are known as 'purchased graves'.
The person holding the Rights to Burial is the person who can organise the grave to be reopened for further burials or for headstones, and memorials to be erected in relation to the grave space.
When do burials take place?
Burials take place any weekday except bank holidays. If you have any special needs please speak to your funeral director or contact us direct.
Following a burial, continuous sinkage will take place during the first 12 months. We will periodically undertake works to rectify this by top-ups and eventually top soil and seed.
Can I plant or lay tributes?
So that we can maintain these areas, the planting of trees and shrubs are not allowed and regrettably tributes such as self-styled gardens and wind chimes, toys and lights must not be placed on graves or in memorial gardens. If this occurs you may be asked to remove them or we will remove them.
Due to operational requirements it may be necessary temporary board over the grave if the adjoining grave needs to excavate. We appreciate that some distress may be caused and endeavour to reduce the time that the grave is covered a minimum.
