Wakefield Volunteer Fair will take place in the Elizabethan Gallery (next to Trinity Walk) in Wakefield on Friday 2 June from 10am until 3pm. The fair offers the chance for people to come and learn about a range of exciting volunteering opportunities in your local community and with Wakefield Council.

Playmakers tells the fascinating story of how a saddlers apprentice from Horbury created one of the world’s leading sports brands. The exhibition features products made at the factory in Horbury near Wakefield, firstly as William Sykes Ltd, and later under the Slazenger and Dunlop names. The factory created a wide range of beautifully crafted sporting goods used in World Cups, FA Cups, Ashes tests, Challenge Cups and Wimbledon finals.
