We are consulting over proposed changes to the way residential parking permits are managed.
We took over the responsibility for enforcing parking restrictions across the district from the Police in June 2016. This has created significant pressure on the Council’s parking services to able to effectively enforce restrictions in residential parking permit schemes.
As a result, we are proposing to introduce charging for residents’ parking permits. All monies received from permit charges would be re-invested in the service to make sure it is fit for purpose, with more patrols and greater enforcement to reduce some of the parking issues many residents experience.
