PSPO extension (Wakefield city centre) consultation
We are currently consulting on whether we should extend
the Public Spaces Protection Order in Wakefield city centre.
PSPOs deal with a particular nuisance or problem in a particular area that is harmful to the local community's quality of life, by controlling how people can use that area. It applies to everyone and is designed to make sure the law-abiding majority can use and enjoy public spaces, safe from anti-social behaviour.
Wakefield Council introduced a PSPO in Wakefield city centre on 24 April 2017 for a period of three years. The Public Spaces Protection Order was introduced to help the Police and Wakefield Council tackle anti-social behaviour in the city centre.
The order is shortly due to expire at midnight on 23 April 2020.
We are now considering whether to extend the PSPO for a further three years with the existing restrictions and requirements of the current order.
We would like to hear your views regarding extending the Public Spaces Protection Order. If you wish to participate in the public consultation, you are invited to complete the survey.
The existing order and map can be viewed here.
