Requests for approvals and arrangements such as road closures associated with the planning of demonstrations and parades are dealt with by the Local Police Authority. Please contact the Local Police for further details.

The Council deals with the temporary closure of streets resulting from applications for events such as local fairs, carnivals and street parties through the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 - Section 21. Consultations must be undertaken with frontages and the local bus operators and organisers of the event may be required to provide safety measures and diversion signing depending upon the location and nature of the event.
