Level 3 Bikeability cycle training (year 7+)
This course helps cyclists develop skills and understanding to make more complex journeys. It follows on from level 2 completed at primary school and is tailored to suit individual needs. Where possible we plan and ride their home to school route or another journey they wish to undertake regularly.
Inter-form challenge (year 7 - 8)
Volunteer students answer road safety related questions on behalf of their form in an effort to win a prize. This inter-form challenge raises the awareness of general road safety issues, is delivered during an assembly or form time and takes about thirty minutes.
Zacks Pack (year 8)
This is a fifty minute classroom session to consider the consequences of not wearing seatbelts and the dangers of speed. Hard hitting footage, discussion, role plays and group work are all used to influence a positive change in behaviour.
SCARD presentation (year 9)
The Charity SCARD raises awareness of the emotional consequences of road safety, crime and responsibility. During a fifty minute assembly a volunteer talks openly about her real experience as a victim of road crime.
Brake presentation (year 10)
The Charity Brake works to prevent death and injury on the roads by giving life saving presentations to pre and young drivers. This powerful assembly is led by a trained volunteer who frankly relates his story to the audience.
Cruisin’ Event (year 10 - 11)
The whole year group are taken out of lessons for the day and attend road safety sessions from West Yorkshire Police, Fire Service, Driving Standards Agency and Charity organisations. The sessions are as diverse as possible and where suitable, fun and interactive.
Crash Investigation Project (year 11+)
This classroom based session challenges students to investigate a real crash involving a young driver and his passenger.
Arrive Alive presentation (year 11+)
The Arrive Alive road safety programme is delivered by an Examiner from the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). Arrive Alive messages include the correct attitude and approach to becoming a safe driver. It focuses on the vulnerability of the new driver and the dangers of speed, drugs and alcohol.
Consequences of speed (year 11+)
West Yorkshire Fire Service delivers this hard hitting session to small groups of young people. They use graphic images of real car crashes in an effort to motivate safer driving practises.
Pre-Driver Training (year 12)
This six week pre-driver training programme consists five classroom sessions and one practical session. Delivered in partnership, we aim to encourage safer driving amongst young people and influence their future behaviour.
