Local Transport Plan

The Local Transport Plan provides the policy framework and funding mechanism for spending on transport in the district.

The Council is working with Metro, the other four West Yorkshire district councils and transport operators to provide an integrated transport system for the district through the implementation of the West Yorkshire Local Transport Plan. The Plan guides the development of local transport programmes. The Plan has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Integrated Transport Planning.

Details of the current Plan and Annual Progress Reports are available on the West Yorkshire Local Transport Plan website.

Encouraging more journeys to be made by public transport, cycling and walking as alternative modes to the private car is an important objective of the Local Transport Plan.

West Yorkshire Local Transport Plan
The Local Transport Plan is a partnership between Metro and the five West Yorkshire councils: Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield District, looking at the development of local, integrated transport.
