Snow wardens - volunteer to help clear the snow in your area
Calling all public spirited citizens! Join our army of snow wardens and help us keep pavements clear of snow and ice this winter.
With another severe winter being forecast, our priority is to keep the main roads moving and ensure essential services stay open. But an army of volunteer snow wardens could keep more local areas free of ice and snow.
The job will involve clearing pavements and cul de sacs of snow and ice in your local area. This will not only help your neighbours but also our more vulnerable citizens who can’t help themselves.
As a snow warden we will equip you with the tools needed for the job. You will be given a snow shovel, a fluorescent ‘snow warden’ jacket and a bag of salt. You will also receive essential safety guidance on how to clear snow and ice safely.
This valuable role will allow us to focus on clearing our priority routes, which are used by 90% of the district’s traffic.
The snow warden packs will be available on a first come first served basis.
- Please call the Council’s Contact Centre on 0845 8 506 506 to register your interest.
If packs are still available, you will be invited to call at the Tadman Street Highways Depot at Thornes to collect your pack and receive essential safety guidance.
