Street naming and name plates

Enquiry about naming or numbering a building or street?

Building Control deal with the the naming and numbering of new development buildings and streets. This is governed by the Public Health Act 1925.

Damaged or missing street name plates

Highways are responsible for the maintenance of all street name plates. However, the nameplate on a new housing development is provided by the developer.

Report a damaged or missing street name plate...

When reporting a missing Street Name Plate it would be helpful if you could provide details of the previous signs location and where possible the old wording. In the case of faded plates, these will only be replaced if they are illegible.

Please note that only one plate at each end of a street is provided. Usually a replacement plate will be provided within six weeks.
