Wakefield Council issues licences for the following temporary obstruction of part of the highway:

• skips
• scaffolding
• hoardings to separate building works from the street 
• building materials stored on the highway

To place any of the above on the highway without first applying for and being granted a licence is an offence under The Highways Act and may result in a prosecution.
