Building Materials Licence
If you wish to place building materials on any part of the highway a licence is required from the council. A formal licence is not currently issued but you must seek our permission by contacting us (see 'Contact Us - Highways Licencing' under 'Also In').
If it is not possible to avoid using the public highway materials should be placed in the carriageway, rather than the footway. All materials placed in, or partly on the carriageway must be signed and guarded in accordance with Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions and the Code or Practice - Safety at Street Works and Road Works.
Building materials placed on the highway should not obstruct or interfere with the drainage of the street or with any apparatus of any public utility companies.
