Car parking fines - appeal against

Motorists who feel that a parking fine (Standard/Excess charge notice) has been issued wrongly have the right to make an appeal to the Council within 14 days of the date of issue.

If you:

  • had a valid ticket, or 
  • had a valid disabled badge or permit

Please send a signed letter with the following:

  • a legible photocopy of the ticket, blue badge or permit
  • the number of the excess charge notice (you can find this at the top of the car parking ticket)
  • the vehicle registration number
  • your full name and address

Please note: There are no reception facilities at this address and it will not be possible to discuss your appeal in person. Only written appeals can be considered.

Other reasons for appeal

If you:

  • had a valid reason for overstaying, or 
  • had other mitigating circumstances
  • want to dispute a letter received from Parking Services
  • want to query a summons to appear at Magistrates Court
