Accessibility

We take the issue of accessibility very seriously. The redesign of the website at the end of 2004 began the process of making as much of the site compliant with the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) guidelines as possible. At the time if writing the site is ‘A’ compliant and is moving closer to ‘double-A’ compliance with the target of reaching ‘triple-A’. (For more information about these terms follow the 'Web Accessibility Initiative' link below).

Our aim is to make as much of the site as accessible as possible. This is helped by providing features that assist users to read the pages. However, there will be certain areas of the site that it is not practical to make completely accessible. For example, some of the mapping features might not lend themselves to an easy text alternative.

For more information about making our site accessible please follow the links below.

For more information about making the web easier to use please visit the BBC's 'My Web My Way' website (see 'Features').

If you have any comments regarding accessibility on this site please contact the Web Team.
