The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) explains how the community and organisations can take part in the planning process. It sets out how the Council will engage with people and organisations when preparing the Local Development Framework and considering planning applications.
The Council submitted the SCI to the Secretary of State for consideration in July 2005 and has carried out a final six week period of public consultation. An independent Inspector was appointed to hold a public examination to consider the soundness of the SCI and any representations made. As part of the examination the Inspector held a hearing on 1st December 2005. The Inspector’s binding report has now been published and can be viewed and downloaded by clicking on the link in the right hand column (To download a document to your machine, right click and then choose ‘Save Target As’ if using Internet Explorer).
The Council has amended the SCI in accordance with the Inspector’s recommendations, and adopted the SCI on 8th February 2006. A copy of the adopted SCI can be viewed and downloaded by clicking on the link in the right hand column.
The adopted SCI and Inspector’s Report are also available for inspection at main Council offices and libraries. See below for details of these venues and the statutory notice of adoption.
