Technical Consultations - July/August 2011
The Council asked technical consultees for any relevant information they may have on sites in March 2009, April 2010 and again in November 2010. The Council finalised its version of the Site Specific Proposals document in January 2011 and subsequently published the document for a 6 week consultation period regarding the soundness of the document. The document has now been submitted to the Secretary of State for an Examination in Public.
However, following the recent consultation on the Site Specific Proposals document a small number of additional site options were put forward to the Council as part of this process. It is too late for these sites to be included in the document by the Council; however information on these new sites will need to be submitted to the Planning Inspector for her consideration. As such the Council is currently consulting on these new sites for a further 6 week period and we are now seeking technical advice about these possible development sites.
The Council has taken into account various factors and evidence in preparing the Sites Specific Proposals DPD. In particular:-
- Examination and adoption of the Core Strategy, Development Policies, Central Wakefield Area Action Plan and the Waste DPD
- Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment
- Leeds City Region Growth Point
- Evidence and information submitted by landowners, developers, consultees and members of the public.
The Council has convened a number of working groups to guide the preparation of the document and has published a methodology paper which has been endorsed. It has been agreed with technical consultees that we will consult and receive information about possible development sites via the mapping links on this web page.
