Development Contributions Supplementary Planning Document

The Developer Contributions Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) is being produced by the Council as part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) for Wakefield District.

This document will set out how benefits for the community will be negotiated and delivered as part of reasonable requests arising from large development proposals within the district.  It is proposed that the document will provide greater certainty and transparency for all those affected by significant development proposals.

The Council sought views on how, what, when and where we should require contributions for community benefit from larger planning applications as part of an 'early engagement' exercise.  An early engagement discussion document for the Developer Contributions SPD can still be viewed under 'Downloads’.  A scoping report as part of the sustainability appraisal of the document was also available.

The Council then assessed the relative sustainability of the different options available to them.  The results of this assessment were set out in an Initial Sustainability Appraisal report.

The Council has now prepared a formal draft of the SPD for public consultation, after taking into account comments received at the early engagement stage and the results of the Initial Sustainability Appraisal report.  The draft SPD can be found under 'Downloads'.

Comments can be made on line via the link in 'Relationed Links'. Comments can also be made by email to ldf@wakefield.gov.uk or by post on the comment form provided.  Contact details can be found via 'Also in'.

Consultation ends on Thursday 28 February 2008.

If you would like to talk to a planning officer about any aspect of the document please contact Stephen Courcier on 01924 306698.
