Wakefield Geographic Programme 2009-2014

Cover of Geographic Programme documentThe Geographic Programme sets out an action plan for regeneration and economic development investment in the Wakefield district.

The Programme is based on the priorities identified in the Economic Regeneration Strategy and shows how resources for investment in the regeneration of the district are to be targeted for the period 2009 to 2014.

The programme is subject to further negotiation between Wakefield Council and the regional development agency, Yorkshire Forward, and other partners.

The overall aim is to maintain the momentum of the Urban Renaissance programmes in Wakefield City and the Five Towns, provide resources for rural coalfield renaissance in the south east of the district to complement the Green Corridor housing investment, and help progress important work on skills, enterprise and economic inclusion across the district.
