Langthwaite Business Park is a well established industrial estate in South Kirkby.  It first opened in 1949 and now is being extended some 160 acres.  Over the years the estate has suffered from poor security and a lack lustre environment which has not helped it compete with newer employment areas. 

With help from the Council and Wakefield First, the businesses on site have established a Management Company which has enabled them to successfully bid and secure funding from English Partnerships for the major environmental improvements and security measures.  This funding will help regenerate the estate and make it more attractive for inward investment.
