Gateway to Pontefract

Following the closure of the Prince of Wales Colliery in 2002, UK Coal have appointed consultants Spawforth Associates to produce a master plan for the reclamation of the site and to ensure its integration with Pontefract's town centre.

It is anticipated that the site will accommodate a variety of uses including offices, residential and leisure uses.  Extensive reclamation of the former spoil heap and the lagoon are to be undertaken prior to development.
