Five Towns Urban Renaissance
Established under Yorkshire Forward's Urban Renaissance initiative, the Five Towns Towns Team worked for over 2 years in preparing a vision for a renaissance for the 5 Towns area over the next 25 years. The team comprised of representatives of the local community including MPs, Councillors, key stakeholders, groups and individuals, and was chaired by Councillor Peter Box, the Leader of the Council.
This report was published and launched in July 2005 and brings together a range of ideas and project proposals for the whole area. This includes strategic matters such as the economy, transport and the landscape. It also includes each of the individual 5 towns in order that each town maintains their individuality within the whole area.
Having been accepted by Wakefield Council, the report will tie in with key Council strategies including those on Greenspace and Treescape, and the Local Development Framework.
