Featherstone - A better place to live
Keeping you informed - public consultation event
During the summer local residents and business owners in Featherstone were invited to share their views and thoughts on the plans for regeneration of the area.

Representatives of the Council, its partners and members of the Steering Group were on hand to talk through projects brought forward under the Featherstone regeneration programme. Local people were also able to find out about and comment on proposals which others were bringing forward in the area at an event held at Chesneys in Featherstone.
The event welcomed everyone to share ideas and ambitions for its future of Featherstone.
The event covered:
- Girnhill Housing redevelopment
- New Lidl Supermarket
- Redevelopment of the former Kwick Save site
- Ferndale Project
- WDH Housing
- 9 Lakes Project
- Wildlife Trust Project
- Featherstone Rovers Rugby League Club
- Taylor Wimpey Housing
- Coalfields Regeneration Trust

Featherstone Central Area Masterplan
In September 2007 a masterplan for Featherstone was prepared by consultants DTZ.
The main aims of the masterplan are to:
- Improve the retail offer
- Enhance the public realm and improve routes into the centre
- Expand housing provision
- Create enhanced gateways to the town
- Improve transport through Featherstone
The proposals within it are based upon the Strategic Development Framework prepared under the Yorkshire Forward Urban Renaissance Initiative.
The study which identifies key projects is being used to guide current and future development of Featherstone over the next 15 years.
