Five Towns Regeneration

Covering the areas of Castleford, Pontefract, Knottingley, Featherstone and Normanton. The aim of the team is to work in partnership with local communities, businesses, developers and voluntary groups to deliver quality regeneration schemes which will inspire and encourage new investment into the five towns area.

	Carlton Square Carlton Square,in the heart of Castleford town centre has been enhanced to provide a high quality public space.

	Castleford - Former C6 Solutions Chemical Plant Following the closure of the C6 solutions chemical plant in 2005, this large site situated close to the town centre is likely to be the subject of redevelopment.

	Castleford - Navigation Point A new large development of houses, flats, public spaces and shops at the junction of the rivers Aire and Calder

	Castleford Bus and Rail Interchange Wakefield Council is working in partnership with Metro on proposals for a new bus rail interchange in Castleford.

	Castleford Library, Museum and Gallery Project The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) have selected Niall McLaughlin Architects from London to produce designs for Castleford Forum - a new library, museum and gallery for the town.

	Five Towns 14 - 19 Skills Academy Wakefield College are leading on plans to develop a new skills academy for the district.

	Five Towns Urban Renaissance Development of a vision for a renaissance for the 5 Towns area over the next 25 years.

	Fryston Wheldale Colliery Reclamation Site The former Wheldale and Fryston colliery sites was adopted into English Partnerships National Coalfield programme in 2003 and since then extensive consideration and ivestigations have been undertaken into potential afteruses for the area.

	Prince of Wales Site Reclamation and regeneration of the former colliery site.

	Sharlston Colliery Site UK Coal are proposing to reclaim the former colliery site in a sustainable manner.

	Tittle Cott Underpass A project to enhance the existing Tittle Cott underpass.
