Background

• The Shop Front Grant scheme is now closed

The aim of the Shop Front Grant scheme was to help improve shop fronts in key urban locations across the district.  This included Wakefield city centre and the major towns surrounding it including: Castleford, Pontefract, Normanton, Hemsworth, South Elmsall, Ossett and Horbury.

Shop fronts have an important function in town and city centre environments. By raising the quality of the shop fronts in these areas we hope the overall quality of these environments will be significantly improved and make more vibrant places to shop, work and relax.

Applicants for this scheme had to meet a certain criteria which included good design, the type of business and location.  We completed a considerable number of projects via the Shop Front Grant scheme.
