Five Towns 14 - 19 Skills Academy
Wakefield College has developed a new skills academy which will, provide lifelong learning opportunities for post-16 education. The Xchange opened in spring 2009.

The new Skills Academy has been built at the former Glasshoughton colliery site close to Xscape, at J32 of the M62, Castleford. |

This striking building will provide young people with the opportunity to develop new skills and obtain qualifications in many areas including:
- construction
- engineering
- hairdressing and beauty therapy
- business
- computing
- childcare
- travel and tourism and retail

| The academy is one of the key projects identified in the Five Towns' urban renaissance programme aimed at encouraging young people to take up opportunities to raise their level of skills. |
