Appeal
If you seek permission to carry out works to your property and your application isn't decided within a set period, or you get a decision from your local council that you disagree with, you have a right to appeal. You can also appeal against Planning Enforcement Notices.

Application Forms
The Council supports applications submitted electronically using the planning portal. You may also use this service to help to produce your proposal and then either submit and pay online or print your forms and submit them by post. You can also use the online applications service to produce a site location plan to accompany your application.

DCLG Web Site
The Department for Communities and Local Government. This is the Central Government Office responsilble for Planning, and is a good source of information about policy and strategy, it provides statistical reports and issues consultation papers.

Greener Homes
This guide looks at the planning and building regulations regime for the main domestic microgeneration technologies and for the different ways to make more efficient use of energy in the home.

Guide to the Planning Process
Offers a brief introduction to the planning system and some explanation of what planning is for and why it is important; intended for both householders and business people and explains why planning controls are necessary and how decisions are made.

Land Registry Online
Land Register Online provides easy access to details of more than 20 million registered properties in England and Wales. Copies of title registers, title plans and documents held in electronic format can be downloaded in PDF format.

This site is for anyone who wants local information. You may be looking for statistics on topics such as employment or crime, or you may want to know more about where you live or work. Lots of useful information from the National Statistics Office about your area.

Planning Aid
Planning Aid provides free and independent advice to community groups and individuals unable to afford to employ a planning consultant. Discover how Planning Aid works and how you can get in contact with your local service.

Planning Inspectorate
Deals with the processing of planning and enforcement appeals, holding inquiries into local development plans and other planning related casework. Has a useful Appeals Search Facility.

Planning System

The Research section of the Portal is intended to help professional planners, lawyers, students, academics and others with an in-depth interest in town and country planning. Includes PPGs and other guidance

Small Business

Environment Agency: find out more about what's really happening in the environment where you live. Our maps can tell you whether your postcode area is at risk of flood, whether there's a landfill site near your house or how healthy the rivers are in your area.
