The Local Land Charges team process local land charges searches which are an important part of the process of buying and selling property and/or land.
The team is also responsible for the registration of Local Land Charges and maintenance of the Local Land Charges Register and Common Land and Village Green Registers.
Requesting a search
Full local authority search requests can be submitted by post or electronically by completing the downloadable form (see 'Downloads'). Simply complete the relevant sections and send your request together with a plan to landcharges@wakefield.gov.uk.
Your request will be processed and search result returned to you via email generally within 24 to 48 hours of receipt.
Payment can be made by cheque or over the phone by credit or debit card (please note searches cannot be processed until payment is received). See link below for details of our fees.
Personal searches
Personal Searches of the Local Land Charges Register can be undertaken free of charge at our office – Room 58, County Hall, Bond Street, Wakefield - by appointment only. Contact the Local Land Charges team by telephone on 01924 305260 to make an apppointment.
Opening times for personal searches:
Monday - Friday 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 3.30pm.
