Street Audits

Through the audits a detailed record of the streets surveyed in Wakefield city centre is being created and will be used to guide improvements to the public realm. These checks identify management and maintenance issues which are then followed up by the relevant Council departments and other agencies. The audits also focus upon decluttering streets leading to the removal of redundant street furniture and the rationalisation of signage.

To date the following streets have been audited as part of this on-going programme: Wood Street; Cross Street; Marygate; Westgate; Westgate Yards; Northgate; Kirkgate. All the issues highlighted so far through these street audits are currently being progressed to enhance the district.

CTCM works closely with the Highways and Engineering Service concerning signage, street furniture, traffic and paving, and with the Neighbourhood Environment Service regarding cleansing.

This work is integral to the strategy designed to create a safer, cleaner and greener environment.
