Love Your Local Market

Wakefield Council is celebrating Love Your Local Market fortnight, with a packed programme of fun activities across its six markets.

The Council’s markets in Castleford, Normanton, Ossett, Pontefract, South Elmsall and the outdoor market at Wakefield, are all taking part with events and activities from 17 to 31 May.

The national campaign, with the Association of British Markets, is aimed at raising the profile of local markets, encouraging start-up businesses into markets and increasing young people’s involvement in markets.

The Council’s markets have fun and entertaining activities taking place including the Yorkshire Owl Experience, themed stilt walkers, sing-alongs, magic stalls, face painting, balloon modelling, children’s soft play and youth markets.
