Residents invited to have their say on Pontefract plan

The public are being invited to have their say about the future of Pontefract.

The Pontefract Plan 2028 will capture aspirations and ambitions for the town, and this information will then be used to identify future priorities and steer future projects.

The plan covers a range of subjects from promoting Pontefract as a visitor destination and improving transport connections, to addressing health inequalities.

The draft plan will be on display in Pontefract Library, Market Place WF8 1BD, from Monday 29 January to Monday 5 February.

The plan is being put together by Wakefield Council, Wakefield and District Housing and Pontefract Civic Society. A representative will be available at Pontefract Library to discuss the plan with residents at the following times:

• Monday 29 January, 10am – 7pm
• Tuesday 30 January, 10am – 2pm
• Wednesday 31 January, 10am- 7pm
• Friday 2 February, 10am – 2pm
• Saturday 3 February, 10am – 2pm.

Cllr Denise Jeffery, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Growth, said: “The plan outlines the future aspirations of the Council and our partners for Pontefract. We ask as many people as possible to come along and see the plan and let us know what they think.”

The draft plan will also be available on the Council’s website at
www.wakefield.gov.uk/ponteplan from Monday 29 January to Monday 5 February.
