Half-term fun for children in district's museums, libraries and parks
Wakefield Council is holding a series of fun-filled family events over the October half-term holidays.
Halloween themed events, as well as crafts and walks, are among some of the activities taking place in the district's museums and castles from Saturday 21 October to Sunday 29 October.
Cllr Jacquie Speight, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport, said: "We have a range of fun activities for the entire family to enjoy, so get ready for some great days out."
Youngsters can take inspiration from the past to make their own historic hats at Wakefield Museum (10am - 3pm) on Monday 23 October. On the same day the creatures that roamed in Roman times in Castleford are providing inspiration for mask making at Castleford Museum (10am - 4pm).
Ancient Egypt takes centre-stage with mummy activities and fun facts at Castleford Museum (10am - 4pm) on Thursday 26 October.
A range of other activities include the chance to make pumpkin lanterns and learn animation skills.
A 'hallowscream' event at Pontefract Castle (5.30pm - 7pm) on Friday 27 October, gives young people the opportunity to dress in their scariest outfit at twilight, bring a torch and take part in a trail featuring some spooky fun.

During half-term there are also activities taking place in the parks.
The Council has teamed up with The Wakefield Cycle Forum which is organising a Halloween cycle ride on Tuesday 31 October at 6.15pm at Anglers Country Park at 6.15pm. For details visit: www.cycling-wakefield.org.uk
A Halloween themed scavenger hunt takes place on Sunday 29 October from 2.30pm to 5pm at Pugneys Country Park. Families can walk a lap of the lake path and collect seven stamps on their map. Wakefield's Sun lane leisure is holding fun sessions in the pool with large floats during October half term (October 23 – 27) from Monday to Friday from 1.15pm to 2.45pm.
