Stanley and Outwood East by-election - Thursday 12 October
A by-election is
taking place on Thursday 12 October, due to the resignation of Cllr Clive
Hudson who represented the Stanley and Outwood East No. 15 Ward of Wakefield
Nominations close at 4pm on Friday 15 September and candidate details will be
published on the Council’s website.
Poll cards will be issued to voters by Monday 11 September.
Residents that are not registered to vote, including those who have moved house
in the last few weeks, can register at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. The
deadline to register to vote in the by-election is Tuesday 26 September.
Wakefield Council’s Electoral Registration Officer, said: “If you live in the
Stanley and Outwood East Ward please check that you are registered and use your
vote on 12 October.”
Residents will also be receiving their annual canvass form in the post. This is
for next year’s electoral register. The form should still be completed, but you
may also need to register to vote for the by-election.
Applications for a postal vote must be made by 5pm on Wednesday 27 September.
To vote by proxy, the deadline is 5pm on Wednesday 4 October. Information about
voting by post or proxy can be found at www.yourvotematters.co.uk
Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on 12 October and residents can
find details of the polling stations at www.wakefield.gov.uk/elections

The result of the by-election will be available on the Council website at www.wakefield.gov.uk/elections
on Friday 13 October.
