Council’s new Chief Executive takes up post
The Leader of Wakefield Council has given a warm welcome to the new Chief Executive, Merran McRae who has taken up the post this week.

Cllr Peter Box CBE, Leader of Wakefield Council, said: "We are really pleased to welcome Merran to the Council. Her wealth of experience and strong record of delivering transformation will be an asset to Wakefield.
"Merran is passionate about making a difference and helping us to realise our ambitions for the district so that all residents benefit.
"I very much look forward to working with her and to continue to build on our success."
Ms McRae said: "I am delighted to get started in Wakefield, a Council with such a great reputation and big ambitions.
"I am looking forward to working with the Council's workforce and plan to meet as many people as possible during my first few weeks.
"There is a lot of work taking place across the district and I am determined to jump straight in, building on the Council's success to date and get on with delivering the best possible services for our residents."
Ms McRae was previously the Chief Executive of Calderdale Council. A role she has held since 2012. Previous to that she held the positions of Director of Wellbeing and Communities and Director of Housing at Kirklees Council. Before joining Kirklees Council she was also Chief Executive at Aire Valley Homes for six years.
