Pontefract Town Hall offers a beautiful ceremony location at the 18th Century, Grade II listed, building in the town’s historic centre to celebrate an extra special occasion.

The Town Hall provides a stunning setting in the heart of the town for a special occasion such as a wedding, civil partnership, renewal of vows or naming ceremony.

The Hartley Suite, located in the former Mayor’s Parlour, has just been fully redecorated and can seat up to 25 guests for an intimate ceremony. Before entering the room, guests will assemble in waiting room that boasts magnificent chandeliers and beautifully restored furniture and Grandfather clock created by William Sheppard, who had a shop on Micklegate in the early 1800s.

The Nelson Room is perfect for larger ceremonies. Located on the first floor of Pontefract Town Hall, the Nelson Room was named in 1855 when the original plaster cast model of Nelson’s death scene was donated to the Town. The plaster model was sculptured by I E Carew and used to mould bronze castings for Nelson's Column in London.

The Nelson Room can seat up to 80 guests, and more can be accommodated on request. Larger functions can be accommodated in the Town Hall’s iconic Assembly Rooms.
