Trade ‘for a tenner’ during Love Your Local Market fortnight
Wakefield Council markets are taking part in 'Love Your Local Market' fortnight (17- 31 May) – where for just £10 people can book a stall.
The national event highlights the best in British markets and as part of the initiative new traders are being given the opportunity to book a stall for £10, which can be used for two to three occasions over the fortnight.
The district is home to Council-run markets in Wakefield, Castleford, Pontefract, Ossett, Normanton and South Elmsall.
'Trade for a tenner' is an opportunity for residents to try their hand as a trader.
Cllr Denise Jeffery, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Skills at Wakefield Council, said: "We have some wonderful, vibrant markets in our district, which are great places to buy items ranging from fresh produce, to clothes and household items.
"I'd like to encourage residents to get involved, either by booking a stall or to visit and show their support for our markets."
During the fortnight, children can have their faces painted and there will be opportunities for people to find out more about becoming a trader.
