Cabinet on Tour Budget Special for 2017/18
Wakefield Council's next Cabinet on Tour event is taking place in South Elmsall where the Council's Cabinet will be setting the budget for 2017/2018.
Residents are being invited to attend the meeting on Tuesday February 14 at Westfield Resource Centre, from 10.30am to 12pm. They can see the Council's decision makers in action as they discuss the difficult choices involved in how to save £15.4m in 2017/18 in response to Government cuts.
In addition to the savings needed as a result of the cuts in government funding, a further £11.5m will need to be found to deal with demand pressures for children and adult social care services.
Cabinet meetings are where key decisions are made following discussion between all elected members. Residents will also have an opportunity to ask the panel of Cabinet members questions at the end of the meeting.
Council Leader, Cllr Peter Box CBE, said: "The next Cabinet meeting is especially important as we will discuss our budget for the forthcoming year. We hope as many people as possible will be able to attend and ask us their questions."
If Cabinet agrees the report the budget will be presented by Cllr Box to the meeting of Full Council on 28 February.
People can tweet their questions on the day to @mywakefield and councillors will answer as many as possible.
The meeting will be streamed live on the day, or can be seen on the Council's website later. For further information and to watch the video visit www.wakefield.gov.uk/yoursay
