Santa Claus is coming to Ponte
Pontefract Museum is welcoming a very special visitor later this month.
On Wednesday 21 December, Santa is coming to the Museum to spread some Christmas cheer from his liquorice grotto.
Children can come and visit Santa from 10am - 4pm, on Wednesday 21 December. It’s free, there’s no need to book, and children will also receive a gift.
Visitors will see the museum transformed into a sweet Christmas wonderland, complete with Santa’s ‘liquorice’ grotto.
Cllr Les Shaw, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport, said: “We’re delighted that Santa has decided to visit us at his busiest time of the year. Our town has a unique association with liquorice and Santa doesn’t want to miss out on those sweet treats so he will be joining us in his liquorice grotto.
“Families should come along and see the museum as they never have before - decorated for a sweet Christmas.”
Family Christmas crafts will also be taking place throughout the day.
The liquorice-themed event is being sponsored by Tangerine. It celebrates Pontefract’s historic association with this Middle Eastern plant.
