Sandcastles in Castleford
Ref: PR 8314
The seaside is returning to Castleford town centre this August.
The big beach is back on Saturday August 20, 10am-4pm, in the heart of the town centre.
Bring your bucket and spade and join in the fun. There will also be free donkey rides, Punch and Judy shows, face painting, balloon modelling and free workshops, plus a variety of market stalls and food providers.
The free seaside event is a chance for children to have fun with lots of activities including playing on the big beach and making sandcastles.
This year's seaside-themed street entertainment will include stilt walking lobsters and walkabout pirates.
Cllr Les Shaw, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport at Wakefield Council, said: "The Castleford event was really popular last year and I hope once again lots of families will come and join in.
"So dig out your flip flops, sharpen up your sandcastle making skills for some free family fun as the seaside makes an exciting return to the district this August. Come and join us for a great time at our seaside."
Seaside in Wakefield is on Saturday August 13, 10am-5pm, and Sunday August 14, 10am – 4pm. All activity takes place at the Wakefield Cathedral Precinct.
