Wakefield Apprenticeship Hub launches Wakefield 100
Ref: PR 8307
Wakefield Council's Apprenticeship Hub has launched an ambitious campaign to support 100 local businesses to recruit apprentices in 100 days.
The 'Wakefield 100' campaign has started this week and aims to support 100 small and medium-sized (SME) businesses that have never employed an apprentice before, with a fantastic package to make apprenticeships more attractive than ever.
The Wakefield Apprenticeship Hub provides specialist advice and support to help businesses identify and recruit apprentices. The Hub has helped to place nearly 400 apprentices with businesses in the last three years – beating its targets – and is currently helping more than 30 businesses recruit apprentices right now.
Businesses that get involved with the Wakefield 100 campaign can access a wide range of support from the Council including a free skills diagnostics, advice on securing business grants, valuable discounts to business networking, and a business profile and case study in the Wakefield 100 marketing portfolio.
Cllr Denise Jeffery, Wakefield Council's Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Skills, said: "Wakefield's Apprenticeship Hub has proved extremely valuable to businesses across the district and we want to continue to support even more businesses with our ambitious Wakefield 100 challenge.
"This exciting campaign aims to help businesses that have never had an apprentice before, to find motivated young people in the district, and show how much they can add to a growing business."
