Thornes Park Stadium closed for the EU Referendum

The Council is reminding residents that Thornes Park Athletics Stadium in Wakefield will be temporarily closed to host the counting of the district's votes on Wednesday 22, Thursday 23 and Friday 24 June.

Customers will be able to use the fitness studios until 10.30am on Wednesday 22 June but the main hall will be closed all day. From 11am, the entire stadium will be closed until Friday 24 June at 3pm. The counting of the votes is not open to the public.

Aspire Fitness Scheme members can use Sun Lane Leisure Centre or any other council-run leisure facilities.

Parking at Thornes Park stadium car park will be restricted during the day and closed from 6pm on Thursday evening. The closure will be supervised by security staff and entry to the car park will be by permit only. Alternative parking facilities are available off Thornes Road next to the duck pond or on Denby Dale Road, off the roundabout.

The Wakefield result will be made available on the Council's website at www.wakefield.gov.uk/elections
