Castleford’s Three Lane Ends play area to get new play equipment
Ref: PR 61811
Castleford school children are getting the chance to have their say on plans for new play equipment at the Three Lane Ends play area.
Local councillors are heading the £46k Wakefield Council project, which will see the play area, on Jin Whin Hill in Castleford, transformed.
Plans include creating a new securely enclosed infant area, with multi-play unit, slide, swings, spinner, rocker and seating. It is also being proposed to have new equipment for children aged up to 12 years, which could include a climbing unit, new balls games area, basketball hoops and target games.
The Leader of Wakefield Council, Cllr Peter Box CBE, is meeting children from Three Lane Ends Community Primary School to share the plans and find out what they would like to see in the play area.
Cllr Peter Box, Leader of Wakefield and ward councillor for Altofts and Whitwood said: “We intend this to be a fantastic new place for children and I want them to be involved in helping decide what will be in their new play area.
“Local councillors saw that play area desperately needed updating and after consulting with the community we knew it was also a priority for local people. We have secured the funding and now, with the help from our children, we will create a great new play place at Three Lane Ends.
Work in expected to start on the project in May 2016.
