Cllr Peter Box, Leader of the Wakefield, congratulated Cllr Ellis and Cllr Barker on their forthcoming new roles and said:  "I am sure they will both  represent the district with commitment and dignity and I hope they enjoy their year in civic office."

Wakefield Council's formal mayor-making ceremony and annual meeting will take place on May 19.
