Pontefract North by-election result

By-election

A by-election held yesterday (Thursday 24 September) in the Pontefract North ward of Wakefield Council resulted in Labour holding the seat.

The by-election follows the resignation of Paula Sheriff MP who represented the No 12 ward for Labour.

The new ward councillor is Lorna Jane Malkin, who took the seat with a majority of 456 votes.

There was a 15.83% turn-out in the by election. The result leaves the make-up of the Council unchanged:
