Normanton and Featherstone libraries welcome new children’s theatre production
Ref: PR 5073
The Man on the Moon theatre production of the award-winning picture book by Gateshead author-illustrator Simon Bartram comes to Normanton and Featherstone Libraries next month.
The new theatre production is for children under seven and their families at Normanton and Featherstone libraries on October 8.
The theatre adaptation is produced by New Writing North in association with Sage Gateshead for Durham Book Festival and promises to be 'out of this world'.
Cllr Les Shaw, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport, said: "We are delighted to be able to welcome the theatre tour to our local libraries. It is sure to be a great theatrical experience, with original live music, that the whole family can enjoy. Make sure you get your tickets from Normanton or Featherstone library so you don't miss out."
The story follows a day in the life of Bob, an ordinary man who happens to have the most extraordinary job of caretaker and tour guide on the moon. There is one thing Bob's sure about, it is that there is no such thing as aliens. But the children of Normanton and Featherstone are not so sure.
Anna Disley, programme director at New Writing North, is producing Man on the Moon. "We are incredibly excited to be touring a brand new production for under 7s and their families this autumn. We feel very lucky to have Simon Bartram's permission to adapt his much-loved picture book. He has created such a rich, vivid world, which really speaks to the imagination."
Man on the Moon comes to Normanton Library and Community Centre on 8 October at 10.00am and Featherstone Library and Community Centre on 8 October at 2.00pm. Tickets are free and are available from Normanton Library (01924 302525) and Featherstone Library (01977 722745).
The production tours the North of England from Saturday 26 October to Sunday 1 November 2015. For all tour dates, see www.manonthemoontour.com
